SJH Roofing takes extra care to properly apply silicone so that it may last for 20+ years. We will install a 100% Silicone Roof Coating system that creates a seamless membrane that will seal and repair existing roofs and protect against leaks. It will also protect your roof from repeatedly ponding water and the damaging effects of the most extreme weather conditions.
Whether your roof is large, small, flat or sloped, a silicone roof system provides a proven, guaranteed solution for renewing your aging roof. This product can be applied to virtually any existing roofing surface to create a seamless membrane that protects against the elements. All rotted and damaged materials will be removed and replaced with the application of a silicone roof coating system from SJH Roofing.
Let’s look at the benefits of silicone as a flat roof coating. What does it do that no other material can? First, it withstands ponding water – indefinitely. Because silicone coatings are not water based like acrylic, they absorb no moisture. While some acrylic coatings can be reinforced with fabric to withstand some ponding water, they are no match for silicone’s natural resistance to moisture.
Another benefit to silicone is that it doesn’t chalk off as other flat roof coatings like elastomeric and acrylic do. Silicone is “Non-sacrificial,” and as such it doesn’t slowly shed as time goes by. It will stay fully intact for the life of the roof. Thirdly, silicone doesn’t need to be reinforced with roof fabric, saving you time and money on installation.
Sun Damage and Bad Weather– Prolonged sun exposure frequently causes acrylic roof coatings to become chalky and discolored or even crack. A membrane coated with silicone, on the other hand, can stand up to the harshest UV rays without degrading, chalking or cracking. Silicone coating also resists oxidation, wind-driven sand, hail, and extreme temperatures.
Standing Water – Traditional coatings, like acrylics, cure as water evaporates after application. But, should water ever pool up on the acrylic roof for two days or more (which can definitely happen around here), the coating will start to return to its liquid state and separate from the roof substrate. Silicone coatings are moisture cited meaning water actually makes the product stronger.
While the specific silicone coating we use is available in a variety of appealing colors, the color white offers the highest reflectivity. By essentially shielding your building from the sun’s heat, silicone coatings will reduce energy use. It is also Energy Star rated.
Additionally, because the product has ultra-low VOCs and is free of hydrocarbon solvents, it’s safer for the environment than other coatings.
